I Run and I Tri for Breast Cancer | Fund Raising Event

Hey everyone! Let’s support this event by Pharmaton MVP winner TJ Isla! TJ will run 200k and then finish the TIMEX 226 Bohol Triathlon to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer.

As y’all know, SBR.ph is a huge advocate of Breast Cancer Awareness. We actually turned the entire site pink just for this a couple of months ago!

So when we learned what the MVP was planning to do, we didn’t think twice and immediately pledged our all-out support.

We’re hoping you can do the same too! :)

So what’s the cause and how does it work?

Here is TJ’s story.

I used to sympathize and support cancer awareness projects and advocacy runs or bike. The story of Lance Armstrong, his Livestrong foundation and friends who have suffered and died of cancer are the closest to to what I know about the dreaded Big C.

Then it hits close to home.

Last July, my mom was diagnosed with Stage IIB Breast Cancer. She called one evening, “Where are you?” With those words, I knew it was bad. She told me of the diagnosis and immediately went on to have mastectomy done on her left breast. My mom’s a fighter and she showed just that from that day on.

My mom just got through her 4th chemo session last week, 8 more to go.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year, the Philippines has the highest incidence of breast cancer in Southeast Asia. It’s one of the leading causes of death among Filipino women. Shaving my head is not enough to show support and be with my mom in her battle. And so this month, I decided to run & tri for mom and breast cancer.

On Nov. 1,  I will join Baldrunner‘s WC 200, a 3-day, 200km ultramarathon from Subic to Pangasinan. On, Dec. 1, I will be back in Bohol to try and finish Timex 226, an irondistance triathlon, with a better time than last year.

Though every stroke, pedal and step won’t in any way feel close to the pain of what cancer and chemo brings, I will finish it for my mom and hopefully raise some funds along the way, for those without means of breast cancer treatment.

I’ve done two irondistance triathlons but I am not sure if I can even finish the 200km ultra. But I will finish and I will fight, for my mom and for all those battling breast cancer.

Just as what my buddy, Javy Olives did last year, you can help me out and the cause by:
1. Donating/contributing a flat amount
2. Pledge any peso amount for every kilometer I complete. (200km + 226 = 426km)

I will be partnering with ICanServe for this cause. I will be posting more details soon for the donations as well as the pledge form. For starters, you can leave a comment if you want to help out.

Thank you. Live each day happy and celebrate life.

  1. The next generation of breast cancer detection is now in the Philippines. The Biofield Diagnostic System gives accurate and rapid results after 15 minutes. Benefits are: Painless, non-invasive, 98% High-sensitivity, Low Risk, Rapid result and Less Expensive. BDS obtains a Bio-electric Measurement:- Electrical signal on skin surface- Compares suspicious quadrant  to uninvolved quadrants.- correlates with cellular proliferative activity.
