Breaking News : Triathlon Races in Alabang Cancelled

This is just in. Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) cancels all races in Ayala, Alabang.  See below for the official statement of TRAP.

To All Concerned:

The Ayala Alabang Village Association, while allowing us to hold the SuperTriKids Multi-Sport Festival on April 14, has set certain conditions that make the holding of the event untenable.

These conditions include:

Not allowing the set up of the Finish and Transition at any Park in AAV, including Narra Park

Requiring participants to obtain bike stickers issued AAVA

We will reimburse all payments that have been made.

As this also affects the YOG Qualifying series, the replacement race will be the NAGT Cebu at Alegre Beach Resort, Sogod, Cebu on April 6-7.

All other races set for Ayala Alabang are also cancelled until further notice including:

ANIMO Sprint, Jun 9-10
AAV NAGT, OCt 6
Tri UNITED 4, Nov 24

We hope nobody is overly inconvenienced by this development.

As for the final leg of the SBR.ph Tri Series, the Triman Triathlon, which will also be held in Ayala Alabang, we’ll coordinate with TRAP and Ayala Alabang and will get back to you guys ASAP. But from the looks of it, it’s pretty safe to say that the Triman will be affected as well. If ever we do, the date will still be the same.

Stay tuned for more updates.

A triathlete making a comeback and a true blue Scorpio. That sums it up quite nicely :)

  1. Just my 2 cents worth.  I am actually not surprised by this development.  The dramatic increase in the number of multisport events will result in a strain in venues hosting the events.  The perceived increase in interest in multi-sport will increase the cost of venues and the like.

I was a bit shocked at the large number of events for multi-sport this 2013.  More so shocked in  the dramatic increase in reg fees.

In the end, I think the increase in the number of events is not good for multisport.  It will dilute the participation as athletes will now be choosy in the best value-for money events.  Sorry about that as some might not agree with this position.  Peace!

  2. I have just learned today that Super Tri-Kids Multi-Sport Festival ‘13 set on
April 14, 2013(Sunday) at Ayala, Alabang is cancelled and all other races set there via phone conversation from the contact person of the event after settling registration online and bank payments. Not to mention the excitement that turned to disappointment by the registrants. May I suggest you remove it from your calendar’s website and make the breaking news to be more visible so as to avoid hassles. Or simply UPDATE your calendar at that. Thanks!
