Lacuna is PH’s bet to the 15th FINA World Championships | Swim News

Olympian and Speedo’s elite sponsored athlete Jessie Khing Lacuna is set to represent the Philippines in the 15th FINA World Championships in Barcelona, Spain. He is set to compete in the 100m butterfly, 100m, and 200m freestyle category.

The best aquatic athletes from 181 nations will be in fierce competition at Palau Sant Jordi from July 19 to August 4. Participants will be competing in six disciplines – swimming, diving, water polo synchronised swimming, open water swimming, and high diving.

This is Lacuna’s third time to compete at the FINA World Championships. In 2011, he represented the country in Shanghai, China and just last year in Istanbul, Turkey. Lacuna shared in an interview, “The pressure is there but I vow to give my best this year. I am keeping my eye on the goal as I trained hard and prepared for this.”

Currently the National record holder in 200m freestyle, Lacuna also competed in the 2012 London Olympics.

Joining Lacuna is fellow Olympian and also an elite sponsored Speedo athlete, Jasmine Alkhaldi. Alkhaldi is set to compete in the 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly.

Josh Hall, a Filipino-American swimmer based in Wisconsin will be part of the triad who will be competing in the Championships. Hall will battle it out in the 50m, 100m, and 200m breaststroke.
