Bike King Classic up at Subic
The Bike King Cycling Classic opens its series for the year on Feb. 19 at the Subic Bay Freeport. The event, held in cooperation with Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP), will feature top amateur male and female cyclists aged 18-year old and above vying for honors in three different divisions – men’s 70km category 3 and 4 and women’s 30km points race.
Organized by Bike King CEO and TRAP director Raul Cuevas with Subic Holiday Villas as the event’s official hotel partner, the race is the inaugural leg in the four-leg cycling classic for 2011.
Also supported by Unilab Active Health, Pocari Sweat, Crystal Clear Water, Orbea Bicycles, Corima Racing Wheels, Knog, Polar Insulated Bottles and Weekend Warriors, the second leg is slated July 1-3 also in Subic while the third leg will be held in Bohol Sept. 24-25. The culmination of the series will be again at Subic Nov. 19.
The state-of-the-art Mylaps Pro Chip Timing System will be used as the race official timing device.
Competition starts at 9 a.m. with participants in the men’s category 3 to be flagged off first.
After five minutes, competitors in the men category 4 take center stage while last to be flagged off are the women cyclists.
The top three finishers in the men’s category 3 and 4 and the women’s open will receive medals while the fastest rider in the two categories for men will also bag the Sprint King title.
Summit Media, Women’s Health, Men’s Health Runner’s World and The Philippine STAR are the event’s media partners. A P1,000 registration fee covers the cost of participation, rent of timing chip, post-race snack, Pocari Sweat and Unilab gift pack.
