Despite all the odds, the Cobra Philippine Dragon Boat Federation came out on top and once again proved to everyone, that they are the BEST PADDLERS IN THE WORLD!
Congratulations to the team for winning 5 golds and 2 silvers at the recently concluded, 10th International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) World Racing Championships in Tampa Bay, Florida, USA.

COBRA PDBF TEAM, TRULY THE BEST PADDLERS IN THE WORLD
(Florida, USA, August 07, 2011) The Cobra Philippine Dragon Boat Federation team bagged its 5th gold medal during the last day of competition in the 10th International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) World Racing Championships in Tampa Bay, Florida, USA.
The Cobra PDBF team competed in the Men’s 500-meter division, going against Japan, Australia, Italy, and Trinidad and Tobago. For this particular race, the format was changed as the top placer in race 1 automatically gets into the final race, while others had to vie for eliminations in race 2.
The Cobra PDBF team dominated race 1 with the time 02:38.479 and automatically made it to the Final race. In the Final race, the Pinoy paddlers once again proved their might by winning gold with the time 02:23.535. Australia placed 2nd (02:29.299) and Japan got the 3rd spot (02:36.365).
With the last gold win (which is their 5th), the Cobra PDBF team is coming home with a total of 7 medals, proving why they are considered the number 1 paddlers in the world.
During day 1, the Cobra PDBF team won gold in the Men’s 1,000-meter division, a new category for the small boat division, where they set a new world record of 4 minutes and 57 seconds.
On day 2, 2 gold medals in the Mixed 200-meter and Men’s 200-meter divisions beating countries like Trinidad and Tobago, Australia, Germany and Italy. Plus, a silver in the All Comers 200-meter division.
On day 3, they racked up 2 more medals, gold for the Mixed 500-meter and silver for the Mixed All Comers 500-meter divisions.
Filipinos abroad stood proud as the Philippine flag was raised and national anthem played during awarding ceremonies.
The Cobra PDBF team is thankful to all their supporters and fellow countrymen, and happy that their achievements have allowed them to stand tall and proud amidst the best dragon boat paddlers of the world.
