Duterte Declares Philippines Under State of Public Health Emergency
President Rodrigo Duterte has officially declared the Philippines as under the State of Public Health Emergency.
Following the Department of Health’s “Code Red sublevel 1” alert last Saturday after it confirmed that one of the newest COVID-19 patients from Cainta, Rizal, a 62 year-old man and his 59-year-old wife, who didn’t have recent travel history to other countries tested positive for the infection.
The Code Red alert is a preemptive call to ensure that national and local government and public and private health care providers can prepare for possible increase in suspected and confirmed cases.
See below for the official declaration from Malacaรฑang Palace along with its implications.
