Sponsored by British financial services giant Prudential PLC, the annual festival is composed of a series of events for both amateur cyclists and professionals and culminated in the London-Surrey Classic.

“The race is known for its high-octane categories, but we also maintain a friendly atmosphere that welcomes riders from all walks of life and expertise levels. The Surrey 46 is a 46-mile route perfect for younger and amateur cyclists who want a taste of adrenaline. Meanwhile, families and those who want to enjoy the day on traffic-free roads could participate in the Free Cycle category. Beginners could ride with leaders who can accompany them at a relaxed and easy pace. The category also featured an Inclusive Cycling Hub, where riders with disabilities were able to use adaptive bikes.d

Atienza and Legaspi joined Surrey 100, a 100-mile challenge with the added incentive of raising money for charity. Meanwhile, Ho cycled at the Surrey 46 – a 46-mile ride designed for newer and younger cyclists. Joining Ho were Pru Life UK employees Kahlil Robles, Ryan Benguelo and Nelsi Rabe who cycled with Ho to represent the company.

“We are proud to have a strong contingent of cyclists at this year’s Prudential RideLondon. Their participation in an event of this magnitude shows that we are committed to our We DO Health campaign to promote a healthy lifestyle. We want to show that being active can also be fun, exciting, and easy,” says Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Marketing Officer Allan Tumbaga.

The festival is one of the most anticipated in the field of cycling because of its inclusive nature, welcoming everyone from families to amateurs, professionals, and even those with disabilities.

“Through this important celebration, we hope to inspire more Filipinos to get active by getting on a bicycle,” adds Tumbaga.

To active lifestyle, interest in the sport has grown in the Philippines. Earlier this year, the insurer bolstered its fitness initiative with PRURide PH 2019. Over 2,500 cyclists from across Asia joined the country’s largest festival of its kind, including hobbyists, beginners, and racers.

In a recent survey conducted by Pasig City Government’s City Transport Development & Management Office, 62% of respondents who were non-cyclists have considered biking. Because of this, local governments have started to roll out initiatives to promote cycling as a way to commute among Filipinos. Bike lanes around Manila and neighboring cities like Pasig have increased. Pru Life UK aims to support this growth through its local efforts in promoting the activity.

“As a life insurance company, we show our commitment to promoting healthy living and financial security,” said Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Marketing Officer Allan Tumbaga. “We hope to reach more Filipinos and send a message across that health plays a big role in the quality of our life. And cycling is an affordable, fun, and easy way to achieve this.”
