2015 Tri United 3 | Race Results and Review

Congratulations to all the winners and finishers of the super hot and scorching, Tri United 3! Check out our official race review and don’t forget to share your thoughts about the race in our comments section!

When it comes to home grown, half-iron distance races, there is no doubt that Tri United 3 is THE BEST. A well organized, fantastic race, where athletes are pushed to their absolute limits.

It was August Benedicto who came, saw, and conquered the tough distance as he swam a 36 minute swim, maintained a blistering 35.20kph on the bike for a 2:33:25 bike split, and then ran a 1:35:31 half-marathon for the only sub 5 time of the day. Winning the Men’s Elite division in 4:48:00. Billy Biag of Camsur Tri and Benjamin Rana of Unilab Active Health could only damage control as they finished second and third with a time of 5:04:16 and 5:07:23 respectively.

The women’s elite division was interesting though as Katelyn Kearney finished first with a time of 7:17:15 respectively. Sparking talks that some of the top women age groupers should’ve joined that category instead. Kearney was the lone entry in the female elite category.

Going on it’s third year, like what we said in our previous review, Tri United 3 continues to be the “racer’s race”. If you’re thinking half-iron, you’ll have to do this. The bike course alone is enough reason for you to sign up! It’s not every day that athletes get to hammer their rides on SCTEX. This event allows you to do so for 90kms.

See you next year!
