New Ironman Philippines 70.3 2012 Venue?

After months of guessing and speculation, we finally have a clue (note: clue) as to where the 2012 edition of Ironman 70.3 Philippines will be held. Based on the picture below, looks like it’s going to be at Cebu! Talks about the 2012 venue has been on the hush-hush, but we all know sooner or later, they would have to announce it and open it for registration. Take a look at this article from www.snipcebu.com. It surely looks convincing but do note though that until an official announcement is made by the WTC or the local Ironman 70.3 Philippines organizers, nothing yet is final.

Wilfred Steven Uytengsu paid a visit to Gov. Gwen Garcia today to discuss initial plans to bring Cobra Energy Drink Ironman 70.3 Philippines to Camotes Island next year.  Uytengsu, himself a triathlete and chairman of Ironman Philippines, gave Garcia a Timex watch from the Ironman series.  Garcia also met today with Nigel Paul Villarete, general manager of the Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA), and San Francisco Vice Mayor Al Arquillano to fast-track plans for the operation of an airport there.

Honestly, I have nothing but good words to say about the three Ironmans held in Camsur. Camsur will forever be associated with Ironman Philippines and for all the right reasons. But the only thing permanent in this world is change right?

Stay tuned for updates.

A triathlete making a comeback and a true blue Scorpio. That sums it up quite nicely :)

  1. Hi,

What was mentioned during Mr. Uytengsu’s meeting with Gov. Garcia was Camotes Island, an island off Cebu but still part of Cebu province, not Cebu City. Camotes Island is in the district of former Tourism secretary Ace Durano when he was still a congressman.

Will be looking for Camotes photos to upload to the site, in case you’re interested. We already have a few posted in the last few weeks, though.

    Thanks for sharing. :)
