Breaking News | Rudy Project Triathlon Official Statement

Official statement of Rudy Project about the controversial Rudy Project Triathlon. And yes, we would still call it the Rudy Project Triathlon even if the race got turned into a duathlon.

Read on below for the full statement. We’ll it up to you, our readers, to decide.

Post your feedback on our comments below.

Dear Rudy Project Challenge finishers:

We would like to thank you for taking part in our first major event. We were very humbled by your participation and your passion for the sport.

Based on past triathlon and duathlon events, we realised that safety is of paramount importance. Mutual decision among the event organiser – Adrenaline Multisport, Republic wakepark and Rudy Project Philippines to forgo the swim leg was arrived at on the day of the event itself. As a token of our appreciation for your participation, Rudy Project assembled a finishers pack, which included, among other items, a Limited Edition Stratofly, specially designed and produced in Italy. Unfortunately, due to logistics issues, we could not provide the eyewear in time for the race. However, we did include the Syluro, which came in five frame options and with five lenses options as an award for your participation. The Syluro features the Quick Change interchangeable lenses system, adjustable nosepiece and temples, and is RP-D-Centered (for advanced visual acuity performance vision) and RX prescription friendly. You have an option to exchange the Syluro with the Stratofly at our stores from October 11 to 31. For those participants from cities outside of Metro Manila, we will send you the eyewear via courier.

Despite the challenges, we at Rudy Project Philippines were inspired by your sportsmanship, comments and suggestions, patience and appreciation. We will take all of this as we move forward in all our endeavours.

Thank you very much. Looking forward to working with you athletes in whatever field to elevate sport to the highest possible level and reach.

Sincerely,

The Rudy Project team

A triathlete making a comeback and a true blue Scorpio. That sums it up quite nicely :)

  1. Sorry to say but I find this really insulting. Are they really expecting us to believe na race day decision lang yung pag cancel ng swim? How the hell can they explain those duathletes na mga sumali? Race day lang din yon?

I like Rudy Project and appreciate what they’re doing to the triathlon community but wag naman nila tayo gawing bobo. Niloko pa rin nila tayo. Kalokohan tong statement na to.

    1. dun din kami nagtaka kasi merong duathletes.. ang masakit kasi, my brother who competed here trained for triathlon..talagang sinisingit nya na makapagswim training for this kasi may klase sya then biglang duathlon..the mess really!

  3. Tayo pa talaga inutusan na pumunta sa Rudy Project store para ipalit yung palpak and phased out na shades na binigay nila? No thanks Rudy Project! Have the decency at least to send the shades to us!

  4. This official statement is nothing but BS. Please explain the presence of the duathletes from Sante Barley.   Cannot even find the words “sorry” or  ” we apologize”. Yes, up to the end nangloloko pa din sila. The Philippine triathlon community showed how civil they can be but please wag naman silang gawing tanga.

  5. How can the tri community forgive you if you’re not issuing an apology? We’re not asking you to kneel and humiliate yourselves but at least have the decency to admit your shortcomings and apologize for it.

  6. Deym! I was fortunate enough not to join this event so I am not as affected but WOW no apology? Sheesh! And the nerve to proclaim that it is STILL a triathlon despite the actual duathlon race? I don’t think the guy who wrote this letter has ever joined a multi sport event. And if you have, well you’re a disgrace. You should have known how BIG of a difference the training that the participants had spent (financially and physically) to train for your EPIC FAILURE of a race. Hey honestly I kind of felt bad when I missed the registration because it felt that this was an opportunity for me to try out your products. I’m an Oakley loyalist and this could’ve been an opportunity to explore especially with the Stratofly that will be given away. Buti na lang talaga I didn’t join because even the Startofly was given to those who had connections and the rest of the particiants? Kunin nyo na lang sa stores hehehe. How much did you guys earn on this event? You suck – you’ll move forward on your events on your own UNLESS PhP500 lang ang registration nyo if ever you’ll have another event hahaha.

  7. Rudy Project, I only have one question for you guys. Or nung race day lang talaga?

If so, bakit may duathletes sa event? Ano yon natuto sila biglang lumangoy?

Give us a straight answer. Don’t beat around the bush and i advertise niyo pa yung stratofly na hindi niyo naman pinangako. Hindi yan ang gusto namin and for your information, phased out na yang model na yan.

  8. mas madami pa magagalit sa statement nyo, nagmmatigas talaga e, refund na lang! how about my wakeboard friends telling me that the wakepark would be open until oct 20 pa?? but still nagpursue pa kayo na gawin triathlon even if di talaga kkayanin, and what safety are you talking about?? na hindi pa filled up ung lake? e di sana you gave the triathletes a decent notice at least a week before the race para sana if may mga gusto mag backout may chance pa, the training these triathletes make is not easy, lalo na ung swim part kasi yan ang pinaka technical, then malalaman na lang na duathlon?? you even charged php4000 for late registrants not letting them know na duathlon lang pala, what a waste!

  9. wow now i feel so insulted. it was even better when they were keeping mum about it. took them a couple of days to respond with an explanation like this, wow. ano tingin niyo sa amin, parang kayo. wow. talagang up to the last stand, LOLOKOHIN NAMIN KAYO. wow thats the official statement.
why cant anyone man up and say, guys we are very sorry, blah blah blah and it was a bad judgement blah blah blah, so heres some consolotion, and your refund. now thats the way to handle it.

  10. another interesting thing is that, how can the organizers explain, to the athletes that, there were athletes who registered  but did not go for some reason to the event, but ended up having a race result posted with their names. like our friend eric vergara of team triabetics, just to name one. there are athletes who are watching their stats so this is important, not to mention the shades that the impostor received. and guess what i wont even mention the name of that team.

  11. Adrenaline Multisport, Republic wakepark and Rudy Project Philippines to forgo the swim leg was arrived at on the day of the event itself.

TSK TSK TSK, you guys really think we are so stupid.

  12. i remember another thing isnt that ADRENALINE MULTISPORT were the disorganizers of last year’s BROOKS (un)HAPPY run 2011, which was also a disaster, 5k naging 3k, tapos nagkawalawala rin , no water and it was summer time, well at least consistent pala sila. LIVING UP TO THEIR NAME nakakataas ng adrenaline talaga.
