Tri United 2 | Race Results and Review

Congratulations to all the winners and finishers of Tri United 2! That was one heck of a race! Absolutely perfect weather conditions which set the tone for a lot of P.R.’s getting smashed. Plus, we had the blessing of a very cool drizzle during the run! Kuya Kim was once again spot on with his weather prediction!

Quick race notes :

The swim : As predicted, the water was very flat! It was low tide unfortunately during race day which allowed some athletes to walk up to the middle part of the 3x loop swim! There were a lot of “cool” sections during the swim where the water suddenly changed temperatures. That was a good feeling! Going back the triathlon Gods smiled at us once again as the current helped us get to the shore faster. Reports say there were a couple of athletes spotted praying the “rosary” during the swim though.

The bike : The bike course is insanely fast. Mixed with a couple of false flats and slight uphills, the course is a time trialists dream. Like what we always say, put your head down and hammer! The road closure gave triathletes the chance to just focus on their riding and not worry about hitting a car or any unwanted object on the bike course. The aid stations were stationed properly as well which offered ice cold water and pocari sweat. We could have wished for a wider turnaround though going back to T2. Also, a lot of riders suffered punctures. We wonder what the cause of that? Sure, there were a couple of bumps and uneven sections but that much? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below!

Drafting : We wonder if athletes got caught/penalized for drafting? There were like a solid 3-4 packs out there.

The run : The run course was a signature Bike King run route. Rolling, concrete road, no shade, plus heart shaped tabo’s! Anyone noticed that? :) The aid stations were properly spaced and never ran out of ice cold drinks. The 3 loop course allowed athletes pace their runs properly. The vibe was definitely positive as almost all the athletes were cheering for each other on the run, which in our honest opinion, made you avoid walking and run faster!  We wish there were sponges though :)

Till the next race! We hope you enjoyed our live coverage and instagram photo feed!
