Open Water Classic Leg 1 | Race Results and Review | Aquaman Open Water Challenge Series

Congratulations to all the winners and finishers of the first leg of Aquaman Open Water Challenge Series, the Camayan Open Water Classic! We hope you guys enjoyed the event! We got 3 more legs to go after this and we’re hoping you’ll support ’em too! See you! :)

In the 1k, division, swimmers Jasmine Relf and Clifford Pusing was virtually unchallenged and finished in nearly identical times. Relf clocked in at 00:19:14 while Clifford finished .1 millisecond faster with a time of 0:19:13. Sisters Michelle and Gabrielle Silvestre wrapped up the women’s 1k podium with a 25:43 and 31:45 time respectively. Jeremy Ng came in second in men’s 1k division with a time of 30:21 followed by Jan Michael Corpus who finished close to a minute, crossing the line in 31:32.

Luica Dacanay of Bert Lozada Swim School and Mark Saquing of Last Minute Tri Team ruled the men’s and women’s division of the 1.5 category. Luica Dacanay showed her swimming skills as she built a 15 minute lead behind second placer Christine Gonzales. Dacanay finished in 26:29 while Gonzales finished in 41:33. Xandra-Fey Pauco came in third with a time of 48:36. It was closer in the men’s division as eventual winner Mark Saquing finished just a minute ahead of second placer Marlon Narvaez of Globe Tri. Saquing clocked in at 40:03 while Narvaez crossed the line in 41:51. Jayson Pascual came in third with a time of 43:33.

In the 2k category, Alonzo Magadia came in first with a time of 33:00. Den Caseja of Yellow Cab Tri Clark came 46 seconds after in 33:46. Coming in 4 minutes after was Dan Paulo Villacrusis of SCDI Pilipinas, wrapping up the top 3 overall of the men’s 2k division. Levi Gasper won the women’s 2k division handily with a time of 37:24. While Shannon Arnold and Carly Relf came in 10 seconds apart in 41:46 and 41:56 respectively.

The event was kicked off by the kids who competed in the dolphin category. Honestly, they were the real superstars of the event. It was a blast seeing them go and sprint to the water after the gun start!

In the 250 meter category, Mickhail Felismino came in first with a time of 12:06 followed by Shem Bayongasan who clocked in at 14:50. Hana Kishi Generao was the lone participant in the women’s kids division but no doubt earned her first place with a time of 14:54! We dare the adults to beat that :)

Heather Sanguyo came in first at the 500m women’s dolphin category in 8:19 followed by Sylvern Bound and Isabella Relf who finished in 10:16 and 12:15, respectively. It was a 1-2 finish for brothers Richarson Navo and Richard Anson Navo in the men’s division of the dolphin category. Richardson finished in 8:00 while Richard Anson came in 17 seconds after in 8:17. Denzel Ballestar of Team Manst wrapped up the men’s podium with a time of 9:24.
