2016 Tri United 2 | Race Results and Review

Congratulations to the winners and finishers of the Tri United 2 2016! Now THAT was a real scorcher! Congratulations to Bike King Philippines for another stellar race!

In one go, Tri United 2 forever demolished its reputation as the “tune up race” before the big one in August. For the past few years, Tri United 2 has always been held at Laiya, where participants enjoyed a calm, relaxed, and nothing unusual flat course. With a distance of 2km Swim-60km Bike-15 run distance, the race was the perfect warm up race. All that has changed.

Mark Hosana of Unilab Active Health followed his Triman Triathlon overall finish with another win as led the race from start to finish. Mark swam a 31:43 swim and followed it with a 1:46:24 bike. A steady 1:13:28 15km run was all it took to hold the lead from Benjamin Rana, also of Unilab Active Health who had faster bike (1:45:36) and run (1:13:14) splits but just ran out of road. Rana crossed the line in 3:41:04. Artur Piasecki wrapped up the mens podium in 3:56:44.

The race everyone was looking forward to was the battle between Monica Torres of Standard Insurance and S.E.A. Games Gold Medalist Claire Adorna. Monica played catch-up all throughout the race as Claire swam a race best 29:31. They were close on the bike but it was during on the run where Torres did most of the damage. Monica ran a 1:13:11 compared to Adorna’s 1:27:17 to negate the 10 minute lead that Claire had built on the swim. Torres eventually finished in 3:53:10 while Claire Adorna came in 7 minutes after in 4:00:24. Jenny Guerrero of David’s Salon came in third in 4:19:44.
