Team David’s Salon Conquers RAAM 2017
Congratulations to Team David’s Salon for conquering Race Across America 2017 (RAAM 2017), the toughest bicycle race in the world! The race covers 3000 miles (4940 kilometers to be exact) over 12 states, 88 counties and 338 community towns with over 170,000 feet of climbing (51,816m) all within 9 days.
We’ve been following the progress of the 4 man team of AUDAX Philippines organizers Carmela Pearson, Vany Bandoy Hans, Colin Pearson, and Guillaume D’Aboville and not only did the team overcome a bike crash on the first day which took Carmela out of the race, the team persevered and even got a 2nd place podium finish in the 4 Man Mixed Relay Category!

Family and Friends, the first Philippine-based Race Across America team will be racing the toughest bicycle race in the world. We will be .We just made history… Audax Philippines riders and RAAM 2017 – Team David’s Salon’s Vany Bandoy Hans, Colin Pearson and Guillaume D’Aboville just finished the Race Across America in Annapolis, Maryland in 8 days, 1 hour and 49 minutes. A big bonus was the 2nd place finish in the 4-man mixed relay category and being awarded the “Perseverance Award” from the RAAM organization. The team managed to have just 3 people riding the entire way on top of the many challenges encountered. There were so many learnings and we are just humbled to witness them all.
The team had so many challenges from start to finish and yet the entire team (racers and crew members) overcame them all. We had a really good team and everyone was amazing.
To all who have been tracking and supporting us, your encouraging words were truly appreciated. To those who messaged me personally the moment they learned about my crash, thank you for your well-wishes.
