LOOK : Pasig City Now Equipped With Protected Bike Lanes
A big round of applause for Ortigas, Pasig City for being one of the first in the country to have permanent protected bike lanes (that works!). Take a look at the pictures below
The protected bike lane covers both lanes and extends to the whole stretch of F. Ortigas Jr. Road from Dona Julia Vargas Avenue all the way to Ortigas Avenue.
Bike lanes in Ortigas has been around for awhile but doesn’t really get the respect it deserves from motorists. Mainly because of traffic, motorists oftentimes, are forced to hog the bike lanes out of pure desperation to move forward. Adding permanent structures should solve that.
Pasig also has been implementing Carless Sundays way back since 2012.
Will they put up protected bike lanes all over the city? Only time will tell. But as bikers ourselves, we’d like nothing else but to say THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS to Pasig City for a job well done! May other cities follow your lead!
