2018 NTT ASTC Subic Bay International Triathlon | Race Result and Review

Congratulations to the winners and finishers of the 2018 NTT ASTC Subic Bay International Triathlon (Subit)!

Filipe Azevedo of Portugal bested Min ho Heo of Korea and Takumi Hojo of Japan to win the 25th edition of the Subic Bay International Triathlon. Azevedo finished the race in 1:50:50 while Heo and Takumi finished all within 10 seconds apart in 1:50:55 and 1:50:59, respectively.

It wasn’t as close in the women’s field as the trio of Mengying Zhong (1st), Yi Zhang (2nd), and Ling Yang (3rd) worked together in order to secure the top three podium spots. Zhong crossed the finish line in 2:03:30 followed by Zhang in 2:03:44. Yang wrapped up the women’s podium in 2:04:49.

For the Philippines, John Chicano of the Philippines is the first Filipino male elite to cross the line finishing in 28th place while Kim Mangrobang finished in 2:07:09 to snatch the 8th position.

The highlight of the weekend was the stellar performance of the Philippine squad in the Men’s Under-23 (U/23) category. JC Abad led from start to finish and won in a dominant 2:03:33 finish time.

The event was organized by the Triathlon Association of the Philippines under the guidance and supervision of the International Triathlon Union (ITU) and the Asian Triathlon Confederation (ASTC).
