MORE THAN THE SPORT

I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me - Philippians 4:13

We all have our IRONMAN stories. For Richard Bravo Galvez, it’s about surviving the odds and getting a new lease in life. This time, thru crossing the Century Tuna IRONMAN 70.3 Finish Line last June 3, 2018.

A member of the FOTON Tri Team and a colon cancer survivor, Richard completed the tough 70.3 race with colostomy and ileostomy bags attached to his body. Both of which needed to be replaced everytime it gets filled up.

What are those for? We’ll leave it up to you to find out.

Richard on his cancer bed.

There were numerous times when he thought about giving up during the race. And who wouldn’t? With the sun blazing and the relentless winds and hills of SCTEX punishing every bit of his once broken body, Richard had to rely on the support of his teammates and God to get him over to top.

And that he did. With plenty of time to spare.

Since it’s inception, IRONMAN has always used the words “anything is possible” as its mantra for athletes who dared to dream and defy the odds.

In Richard’s case, now infused with an IRON heart, it definitely is.

YOU ARE AN IRONMAN 70.3 FINISHER, RICHARD!

Thanks for inspiring all of us.

A triathlete making a comeback and a true blue Scorpio. That sums it up quite nicely :)
