Could This Be The New Regent Aguila IRONMAN 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship Bike Course?

We Follow The Trail To The 90km Path

With a few weeks to go before the biggest triathlon race of the year, organizers of the upcoming Regent Aguila IRONMAN 70.3 Asia-Pacific Championship have been working hard to find a new bike course for the race.

As we await for the final version of the 90km bike course, we’ve been monitoring its progress and in true bayanihan spirit, participants and even athletes from Cebu are helping out by suggesting alternate bike routes that Sunrise Events could use for the event.

Citing safety and traffic, the current Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña has barred Sunrise Events from using the famed SRP road this year as part of its race course. Sunrise Events Founder and CEO Fred Uytengsu, replied with the statement below.

This morning, July 4, 2018, Sunrise Events released another statement.

In the comments section, race participant Romy Naciongayo posted the image below as a possible route of the 90k bike course. The course is 3 loops which makes athletes traverse both cities of Lapu Lapu and Mandaue via the Mactan-Mandaue bridge and consistent with the official statement. The design is also similar with previous bike courses made by Sunrise Events, minus the branding, legend and official markings.

Do note that this is NOT OFFICIAL until Sunrise Events posts the final version on their website and social media pages.

We also found this article regarding the bike course posted by Cebu’s daily news source, SunStar News.

A triathlete making a comeback and a true blue Scorpio. That sums it up quite nicely :)
