Back To Back For Mendez and Kahlefeldt in Aguila IRONMAN 70.3 Philippines Cebu

After ruling the inaugural IRONMAN 70.3 Davao, Mexico’s Mauricio Mendez and Czech Republic’s Radka Kahlefeldt continued their fighting forms as they clinch the Aguila IRONMAN 70.3 Philippines’ top spots in convincing fashion.


It was all Mendez in the Men’s Elite Pro division as he crossed the finish line in 3:46:44. Bermunda’s Tyler Butterfield and Australia’s Braden Currie came in second and third, finishing in 3:47:39 and 3:48:12 respectively.

Mendez overcame a 6-man deficit on the run as he came out of T2 in 7th place.

Radka Kahlefeldt was on a class of her own as she bested the women’s elite pro field in 4:12:13.

Lauren Goss of USA finished second but was disqualified for not stopping at the penalty tent in T2 for a blocking violation on the bike. Caroline Steffen took her spot in second and enabled Australia’s Melissa Hauschildt to snatch the last place on the podium.

This allowed 2016 Asia-Pacific champion Caroline Steffen to take second place and catapulted Australia’s Melissa Hauschildt to the podium.
