Pocari Sweat Duathlon | Race Results and Review

Congratulations to all the winners and finishers of the Pocari Sweat Duathlon! The 6k run, 30k bike, and 4k run duathlon race, as expected, was a wild one! Over 250+ athletes competed on the narrow streets of BGC which surely made things interesting.

From the gun start, the elite athletes immediately set off a blistering pace. Ryan Mendoza set the fastest time of the day with a 1:32:21. Doray Ellis, of Team Fitness First showed her experience with a 1:53:42 finish time. The only sub 2 time for the women’s division.

SBR.ph able to talk to some of the participants after the race and except for the bike leg, where athletes was forced to criss-cross with unruly car drivers, resulting in unwanted incidents, almost everyone had a blast! Due to this, the bike leg had to be cut short. See below for Raul’s statement.

It was also interesting to see the finishers carrying some good ole pinoy “TASTY” (bread from official sponsor, Gardenia) after the race!

Thanks to everyone who dropped by the SWIMBIKERUN.ph booth!

Big thanks also, to everyone who tried and supported the launch of MUSCLE Rx! Hope you like it! Looking forward to your feedback!

Here’s an official statement from Raul Cuevas of Bike King.

I would like to thank the participants who joined the 1st Pocari Sweat Duathlon. This race would not have been possible without your overwhelming support and also that of our sponsors – Pocari Sweat, Bike King, Unilab Active Health, Crystal Clear Mineral Water, Timex, Gardenia, Orbea, BGC and our media partners – Summit Media, SwimBikeRun, Multisport and Aero Eye Asia.

Due to the unexpected volume of vehicles in some parts of the bike course, I decided to shorten the bike leg. I feel that the safety of the participants would have been compromised if I did not take this course of action. I sincerely apologize for cutting the race short because I know that all of you have been training hard for this race. I hope that you still enjoyed your race.

Rest assured that steps will be taken to avoid similar incidents in our future races. Please expect the official photos and video to be released before the end of the week.

Thank You.

Raul Cuevas

Apologies I was not able to take pics of T2, the second run, and the awarding. Being my first time to cover an event, my cam battery ran out. :) Rookie mistake! Also I was just using a point and shoot camera. So apologies again for the blurred pics :)

A triathlete making a comeback and a true blue Scorpio. That sums it up quite nicely :)
