Bourne To Do It | The 2014 Ironman Melbourne Asia-Pacific Championship Philippine Team

“Swim 2.4 miles. Bike 112 miles. Run 26.2 miles. Brag for the rest of your life“
On March 23, 2014, the biggest Filipino contingent to ever join an Ironman branded race compete with the best world at the 2014 Ironman Melbourne Asia-Pacific Championship.
How we were able to come up with a contingent this big still amazes us. From what I can remember, the Tri Clark boys initiated the sign ups, then a couple more followed suit. And then, when the registration finally closed, Princess of Sunrise Events, organizers of the Ironman 70.3 Philippines, somehow managed to get a “few” more slots. Those few turned into 10’s, 20’s, 30’s to 50’s. A campaign was then started on facebook to make this the biggest Filipino contingent and the rest as they say, after burning our credit cards, is history.
The lure of this Ironman race isn’t just about doing the best Ironman in the Asia-Pacific region, but to also be part of this once-in-a-lifetime group. For sure, its going to be awhile before a Philippine contingent of this size will be assembled and compete as one team.
Below is the official list of the athletes who will compete at the 2014 Ironman Melbourne Asia-Pacific Championship.
Get to know who they are, if this is their first time, and how many Ironman’s they’ve done.
By our count, Yellow Cab-Tri Clark still continues lead the pack when it comes to individual Ironman finishes. Arland Macasieb, in the meantime, is in his own category with over 20+ Ironman finishes under his race belt.
Note :
- If there are no details after the name, that means they weren’t able to submit to information needed. Doesn’t necessarily mean they’re Ironman first timers :)
- If we missed anyone, send us an email at [email protected] so we can include him/her in the official line up.

We will be monitoring their progress live here on SWIMBIKERUN.ph! God speed and good luck to the team!
while they have their local teams and are being sponsored, maybe they can have trisuits in uniform so they can proudly represent the Philippines as a team..then others (non-competing) can buy the trisuits as a sign of support and maybe fund raising for them…
