WetSHOP Newbie Triathlon | Race Results and Review

Congratulations to all the winners and finishers of the WetSHOP Newbie Triathlon! To the first timers, nothing else to say but WELCOME TO THE CLUB! :)

Here’s a message from WetSHOP Philippines big cheese, Vince Garcia.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL PARTICIPANTS ESPECIALLY THE FIRST TIMERS WHO CAN NOW CALL THEMSELVES TRIATHLETES! We were only expecting less than a hundred participants but ended up with about 59 AQUATHLETES and about 114 TRIATHLETES (after including registrations that slipped thru the cracks that appeared on race day).

173 PARTICIPANTS – Whew!

Overall everyone had fun. The Swim, in a small pool, made it less intimidating to the newbies. Just looking at it, one can say “I can swim that!” And they all did in a really fun fast fashion.

The Bike, had a bit of caution given to the multi-loopers. The out and back riders had no problem but the the narrow u-turn at the turn-around posed as “an accident waiting to happen” for the multi-loopers since the approach was coming from a fast downhill. Thanks to all riders for abiding by our rule to set both feet on the ground in making their u-turns. We only ended up with one slightly scraped knee from a teenager.

The Run, seemed to be the most fun and all had an easy enough time following the direction of the run flow. All the onlookers piled up the narrow street to watch the finishers. Runners said they loved the iced-water at the hydration stations.

This event is a work in progress for like the participants, we at wetSHOP are also newbies in organizing and running the event on our own. We apologize to the participants for NOT YET having some of the things you expect to have and done at a Tri Event. We assure you that all the kinks and glitches will be ironed out and a bigger and better WetSHOP Newbie Triathlon event is already being planned for you already to get your most fun and satisfation.

We will be posting the official results as soon as we have it. The time processor we outsourced stated that we captured all the time splits of the participants but the challenge came from the base data from the registration forms for the ages and genders were not clear. These info jumbled up the tabulation of the final results. Some girls won on the boys category and a 9-year old won at the teenagers category and so on and so forth. It would seem so easy to just correct these errors but with just one error, it affects the chronological order of all the finishers and winners. We need to clean up all of these to get to the final results. And when we do, we will inform the winners and make arrangements on how to can get a hold of their medals.

For those who were not able to get their finisher shirts and medals, we are having some more made and once we get them we will announce where you can get them. PLEASE KEEP YOUR RACE BIB NUMBERS FOR THIS WILL BE THE ONLY PROOF WE NEED TO RELEASE THE SHIRTS AND MEDALS TO YOU.

Thanks to all members of the wetSHOP Triathlon Team and their family members, for Coach Rick Reyes and TRAP, who lent a hand in assisting this Tri-Event.

SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR!

A triathlete making a comeback and a true blue Scorpio. That sums it up quite nicely :)
