IRONMAN Philippines Palawan For 2019?
Well, well, well. It seems like another IRONMAN race in the country is in the works!
JUST A RUMOR?
We’ve been noticing lately that Sunrise Events., (S.E.I.), have been visiting the beautiful island of Palawan a lot for the past few months. If you’re into the local triathlon scene, you’ll know that they just don’t visit locations randomly or just for a vacation. They mean business.
So, rumors spread once again when the S.E.I. team, led by their manager, Princess Galura, visited Palawan once again after the hugely successful Black Arrow Express 5150.
True to form, when we got to the juicy parts, they neither confirmed nor denied.
This is exactly what happened when S.E.I. visited Davao, Cebu, Thailand and Vietnam. After a few months, an IRONMAN race popped up!
WHAT DISTANCE, WHEN AND WHERE?
The talk is now whether the distance is going to be a full, 70.3 or a 5150. Ideally, a full would be best so we can explore the real beauty of a palawan, but we have to bring in the participants. A half would surely rake in the $$$ and a 5150 would be too short.
The course was stated to be at Tagkawayan Beach for the swim start, then traverse the roads all the way to the Ramon V. Mitra Sports Complex for the bike, do the run at the Baywalk and back to the sports complex for the finish.
All in all, for this to happen, everything has to align. From the LGU support down to the hotels.
Our money is on a possible 5150 for Q4 of 2019.
RACE CONFIRMED?
They can deny all they want, but nothing escapes the internet. Especially if you had a press conference for it.
