Empowering First Marathoners: A Look Back at TBR Dream Marathon 2024

Celebrating New Achievements and Lifelong Journeys in Running

On February 18, 2024, the 13th edition of The Bull Runner Dream Marathon unfolded in Filinvest City, Alabang, showcasing the culmination of a transformative journey for thousands of first and second-time marathoners. This event, known for its supportive and empowering environment for novice marathoners, once again proved that it is more than just a race; it’s an experience that changes lives.

The marathon commenced in the pre-dawn hours, setting the stage for a day where personal limits were tested and surpassed. Among the participants, two runners emerged not just as finishers but as the fastest in their categories. Jose Fabito Jr., wearing bib number 416, led the male category with an impressive time of 02:58:13. In the female category, Carla Michelle Elizaga, with bib number 386, completed the marathon in 03:49:00, marking her as the fastest female runner of the day.

The TBR Dream Marathon, distinct in its approach, celebrates each participant’s victory, focusing on the personal achievement of completing a marathon rather than competition. Yet, acknowledging the fastest times adds an element of recognition to the extraordinary performances within the ethos of personal triumph and community spirit.

This marathon, created by Jaymie Pizarro and Jim Lafferty, is dedicated to first-time marathoners, offering a comprehensive 22-week preparation program that includes training, seminars, and community support. This structured approach ensures that runners are not only physically prepared but also mentally equipped to tackle their first marathon, making the event a beacon for those looking to embark on their marathon journey.

The 2024 edition further emphasized the marathon’s core values of inclusivity, support, and empowerment. Every runner, regardless of their finish time, was celebrated for their personal journey across the finish line, embodying the marathon’s belief that “everyone who crosses the finish line is a winner.”

The event’s focus extends beyond the race day, aiming to foster a lifelong passion for running and a sense of community among participants. With comprehensive support from running coaches, veterans, and volunteers, the TBR Dream Marathon continues to be a pivotal experience for many, encouraging them to carry forward the values of determination, resilience, and camaraderie in their running and everyday lives.

As we look back on the 2024 TBR Dream Marathon, we are reminded of the power of running to transform lives. It’s not just about the distance covered but the journey undertaken, the barriers broken, and the community built. The marathon stands as a testament to the spirit of endurance, the joy of achievement, and the strength of the human spirit.
