Specialized renews partnership with Fitness First Cycling Team

Specialized Bicycles, maker of Tour de France- and Ironman World Championship-winning road and Time Trial bikes, has renewed its partnership for the 2012 season with Fitness First, the dominant team in executive cycling.

Specialized first supported the team in the 2011 season and immediately racked up impressive results in both road race and Time Trial disciplines.

Fitness First entered no less than four Time Trial events in both Individual and Team categories of the Pilipinas Cycling League (PCL) series and won with the UCI-legal Shiv TT. It also dominated the top 3 steps of the PCL series podium with riders Erwin Navarro, Mark Ellis, and Anthony Dee. The team also won the Time Trial events of the Aboitiz Power Tour of Subic and Bike United Tour of Subic, as well as clinching the team points trophies and taking top podium spots in the General Classification.

“For 2012 we look forward to providing all the support that the team needs so they can perform at their best”, says Joey Ramirez, the CEO of Dan’s Bike Shop (Specialized Philippines Distributor). “We are confident that, between the performance of our products and the champion qualities of the team, we will be able to duplicate, if not improve on, the results of 2011 for this year”, he adds.

Fitness First Country Manager and team captain Mark Ellis concurs. “We are extremely excited to be riding the top-of-the-line Specialized bikes for 2012.  With executive cycling  in the Philippines attracting tougher competition each year there is no other bike we would rather be riding to give us that competitive edge”   says Mark.

The Fitness First Cycling Team will be using the Specialized Shiv TT, Venge, and Tarmac SL4 bikes for the 2012 season, along with S-works Road shoes and Time Trial Helmets. Tony Martin won the 2011 World TT championships with the Shiv TT, while Brit speedster Mark Cavendish’ weapon of choice in the 2011 Tour de France and UCI World Road Championships was the Venge aero road bike. Spanish cycling star Alberto Contador rides the Tarmac SL4 road bike and UCI-legal Shiv TT.
