The Alaska Power of Tri | 3 Weekends – 3 Great Events!

After the success of the Alaska Cycle Philippines, Alaska follows it up with two more great events! Alaska Milk Corporation believes that sports play an important role in instilling the values of determination, discipline, hard work and team work among the youth. These fundamental values develop character and are necessary attributes for success as much as good health and proper nutrition especially through milk.

Alaska’s Sports Development Program is a holistic approach to Sports Marketing that adheres to mother’s natural instinct of wanting only the best for her children by promoting proper nutrition, an active lifestyle, and the importance of character-building. This is what Alaska Milk Corporation believes and encourages. NUTRITION.ACTION.CHAMPION.

With this mantra in mind the newest member of the Alaska Sports Family was launched formally as the Alaska Tri-Aspire team. They are the professional triathlon team of Alaska and they are composed of 2 of the world’s best professional athletes + 5 Filipino Elite Development Athletes.  The aim for the team is to produce legitimate professional athletes that can be competitive in 5i50, 70.3, Ironman distance, and XTERRA events and athletes that will represent the Philippines in the Asian Beach Games, Asian Games and Olympic Games.

Not too late to register for the Alaska Ironkids Aquathlon Race and Play at the Club Manila East on Sunday, May 25! Contact secretariat@ironkidsphil.com for details! Ironkids is the local junior version of the Ironman.

The race is open to children six to 14 years old.

ALASKA World Milk Day Family Run

Alaska will hold its annual Alaska World Milk Day Family Run on June 1 at the Bonifacio Global City. Registration is open until May 25 and categories include 3K, 5K, and 10K race distancess. A must join event for the entire family!

Alaska Tri-Inspire

The best part of the event is the launch of the Alaska Tri-Inspire team. Led by Coach Matt O’Halloran, the Alaska Tri Inspire team just goes to show Alaska’s commitment to our growing sport.

The team, composed of gifted athletes from various backgrounds, is already a fixture in our local races. Making their mark in two simple ways. Finishing in the podium.. or by winning the race.

If The Bike Fits | Bike Fit By Arland Macasieb

“But if we tilt the handlebar upward that won’t be aero!” I said to Arland as he was “mutilating” my very aero looking CEEPO Katana. Then he dropped the bomb, “let’s talk aero when you can average at least 40kph”. Alright, that shut me up.
The goal of any bike fitting session is to achieve the best balance between comfort and speed.

Throwback Training Thursday | Who I Was a Couple of Years Ago

Since its Thursday and everyone’s posting #TBT pictures, I’ll do something different. See before SBR.ph started, I was just like any other athlete. Raring to train and join every race possible. I’m still pretty much like that today, with the difference being that I’m now on the other side of racing now (covering it).

Vanj Endaya | SBR In[FOCUS] Athlete

I can still remember it clearly..  Tri United 3..  I was at my favorite spot.. covering the racers as they were zooming past me on the bike. From the distance, I saw this female triathlete, tucked in aero, hammering and passing a bunch of guys (they were drafting ), and was simply killing it.  In […]

Bourne To Do It | The 2014 Ironman Melbourne Asia-Pacific Championship Philippine Team

On March 23, 2014, the biggest Filipino contingent to ever join an Ironman branded race compete with the best world at the 2014 Ironman Melbourne Asia-Pacific Championship.

How we were able to come up with a contingent this big still amazes us. From what I can remember, the Tri Clark boys initiated the sign ups, then a couple more followed suit. And then, when the registration finally closed, Princess of Sunrise Events, organizers of the Ironman 70.3 Philippines, somehow managed to get a “few” more slots.

The 1st Robben Island Filipino Swim | Good luck Betsy Medalla and Julian Valencia!

Good luck to Coach Betsy Medalla and Coach Julian Valencia! They will swim 7.2 kilometers from the shores of Robben Island to the suburb of Bloubergstrand in Cape Town, South Africa. They will be the first Filipino’s (and Asians!) to do so and the best part is, it’s all for a good cause!

To shed more light on the event, check out the post below made by Buddy Cunanan.

3rd Annual SBR.ph Awards | Nominees and Tally Count

Welcome to the 2nd Annual SWIMBIKERUN.ph Awards! It’s time to vote!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who’s been tirelessly supporting SBR.ph since day 1. A lot of people called us crazy when we launched SBR.ph last January 1, 2011 (yep, we’re turning 3 years old next month!). Up to now, our goal remains the same, and that is to showcase the Filipino talent and our fast growing triathlon scene to the whole world.

That Socks! | A Special Socks Review

So, what do you do when, you just received your paycheck, got boatloads of time to test stuff, armed with the usual “minimal” shop discount, and because you’re a triathlete, the narcissistic need to always purchase new stuff? Hey, if it makes you run more, it should be worth it right?

Let’s admit it, as much as we love to look like a dork and run with compression socks, it’s sometimes more convenient and practical to run using regular socks.
